I have an 86 GXL which is automatic(parts car). I also have an 88 Vert that is a 5spd. I was wondering wha are the gear ratios for these two. I am looking to swap them cuz I don't want to a open diff in my vert. The only reason I am askin this is cuz when people are talking about the Limited-slip diffs it seems the are on a 5spd car. I was just wondering does my GXL have the 3.9 or the 4.1 gear ratio

 

Both of your cars will have a 3.9 open differential, so unless one has fewer miles on it, there's no point in swapping.

If you look the GXL has a LSD on it. Which I have a 86 GXL. Are you saying because it is automatic it is an open diff. Or are you saing the LSD on the 86 has a LSD with a 3.9 ratio.

 

The cars w/ automatic transmissions had 3.9 open diffs. Even though it's a GXL, it's not going to have an LSD unless someone swapped one in. There's no 3.9 LSD as far as I know.

 

Sounds like people who got automatic GXLs got ripped off.
