Rx8 with rx7 13bt conversion

Hi guys. As we speek I'm having my car have a bigger 750hp rated street turbo fitted with 50mm bov. And new stainless headers and down pipe. My first a most concerning thing on my build so far is that she smoked on deceleration . Could it be that she's running over rich? Because the previous guy got the tunning horribly wrong and my eyes would water sitting in the car . She wouldn't idle and break up badly at higher rpm But mid range felt good. Also the old shot turbo that had huge play in the shaft melted the oil feed pipes the block. But I don't think she had been running long enough to cause damage to the seals as yet . She starts every time on the turn.

Any help would be good
Thanks

I figured it would be worth it to post this from your other thread here:

+it's a complete rx7 motor swop single turbo
+She's been ported to stage 3. street port
+3mm racing apex seals
+T4 knock of turbo [replacing with 750hp precision turbo]
+spitstronic fuel management system
+new electronic fuel pump to feed larger injectors
+standard gearbox
+new Mazda b150 bakkie clutch pressure plate and release bearing the springs are tighter fit. Works perfect more bite
+standard 6 speed box
+75mm straight through pipe with 2 boxes at the back

My plans
Bigger turbo
Definitely needs tuning
New down pipe as it's leaking
Reposition of turbo
50mm BOV
New set up on turbo and intercooler pipes. [looks a bit odd as it's done at the moment ] plus has a vacuum leak somewhere in system

That's all I remember for now
Thanks

As far as the issues that you mentioned, I know I won't be of much help with fine details on this because I simply don't have the experience tuning a turbo rotary at that level. However, I will get the ball rolling with these thoughts:

1. You're probably right about the smoke being from too much fuel. What are your plugs telling you?
2. If you haven't already done so, get some good, trustworthy gauges [EGT or AFR, oil temp, oil pressure and water temperature] I think those are bare minimum! Do not rely on any gauge in an Rx-8. They are rubbish!
3. I've never heard of Spitstronic, but the only relevant thing is that your tuner knows what it is and how to use or is able tell you it's garbage if it proves to be. Do not compromise here and remove anyone from your inner circle that tells you different.
4. Replace the oil feed line with something custom and an appropriate restrictor. [On a sidenote: I'm a little curious about how the turbo "melted" the OEM pipe. I can't think of any scenario that doesn't involve open flame. Did you have a fire?]
5. I am in agreement with you in thinking the motor itself is probably fine. If you can't shake the concern, then the only real tools you have for the motor's health are a compression test and to look at oil consumption (maybe give the exhaust ports a look next time you have the manifold off (whenever you install your new turbo would be a perfect time).

Other things that may be relevant to mention ... (1) the actual injector sizes and types, and (2) what you're running for ignition - including plugs.

Hi guys

Well it's been a busy few weeks since iv posted . My turbo set up is all done . Precision 6062 Gen 2 ball bearing turbo 750hp rated . Now just to have all the other things sorted inlet manifold leak and clams. There was a missing bolt on the inlet manifold by the way So I'm guessing it was contributing to the problem leak. And minor oil leaks. Custome drain and oil feed pipes for turbo .. Electronic boost controller hks. And turbo timer all being fitted. I will look into getting the oil pressure and temp guages good suggestions. As for the melted oil feed injection feed pipes I'm pretty sure it's due to the crack in the manifold maybe? Possibly some back firing and flaming from the crack? But to me it looked like incorrect positioning of the turbo . New one is being positioned more forward. I'm not sure what ignition I'm running yet or injectors... Standard plugs though .. The guy says all the problems need to be sorted before tuning witch I'm doing. Will all be done this week and go for tuning before end of the week hopefully he can assist on fueling system and ignition if needs any upgrades but the previous guy says it's got larger injector and a performance fuel pump... I'm new to the rx7 game so I need as much advice as I can get
