he hows it going im new to the rotary game I was in to building Hondas but luv the sound of a rotary so decided to switch over. ok well I bought a 85 gsl se with a 89 6 port engine holley n headers car was sitting for a 1 1/2 yrs so I put some gas n tried to crank wouldn't crank so I tried to move the pulley it would rotate half way then get stuck so I went the opposite way till it unlock I tried starting it it wont turn on the plugs keep getting all wet theres spark but nothing can the motor be shot?

IF it rolls over at all,try a compression test..(tons of threads on that.)

 

it rolls over and when I pulled the plugs out and cranked it you can hear that it has compression ill keep searching I guess

 

Right now I can see a slight problem as to whether your car was operational or not at the time of the swap.
If it was not then you have to hunt down any mistakes made when the engine was installed.
An S5 is a bit more involved If stock,as it has an Electronic Oil Metering pump (OMP) and needs to be hooked up to run with the S5 ecu.
Now,if that pump is removed and the engine is modified to run Premix,or has an s4 cover on it,set to run with s4 ecu, then half the battle is over.

Old trick if it is flooded too bad the apex seals do not seal.
Pull the plugs and put a few ounces of transmission fluid in the chambers.
Replace the plugs and use a charged battery.
It helped my 1987 non turbo overcome bad gas.
Caution to not over crank burning up the starter and if it starts the
car will white smoke like crazy.
