at the moment my steering column is hanging from the firewall with absolutely no hardware at the dash support. does anyone know what exactly holds up the steering column (bolts, cable, etc.)

The shaft gets hooked up by 2 nuts onto the back frame of the firewall.Then the front near the steering wheel is held on by 2 12mm bolts.

thanks, I actually had a chance to see a guy's S4 down in Chaska this morning while picking up parts. but i might still take you up on that someday

 

no worries, mines been on jack stands this week fixing some minor issues after some racing that shifted my exhaust around.
