i have bought an 1992 fd3s just befor the winter, it has had a full rebuild and recon injectors and been ported new fuel pump,d cat aftermarket downpipe and exhaust, apexi power fc been maped, i have ran it in and changed the filters and oil. its ran fine for a while, then started misfire if the fuel was under 3/8s of a tank, at 4000 rpm, i have filled it back up again and it ran spot on down to 3/8ths of a tank again, the apexi computer says the injector def is approx 90% wen its running well but drops to 71%ish wen its misfireing, so i assume its fueling, it doesnt matter if the road is streight or corners always does it, it runs on v power, the other day it was ticking over and started missing then cut out, any ideas would be a great help, cheers

 

Do you know of a reputable rotary shop that can tune and diagnose the Power FC map?

The missing and cut out is worrisome. It could be detonation, it could be bad mapping, it could be fuel cut. The turbo rotary does not tolerate fools or bad mods. 90% duty cycle on the injectors is too much. I suspect the tune/mapping is not right and/or you are running too much boost.

Be careful lest you blow the motor. It doesn't take much.

 

i dont know of anybody round the northumberland area, there is somebody who said they can do it not to far away from me but not sure if they have much experience with rx7s. i will get the mapping ddone again and change the plugs, its strange how it runs spot on with more than 3/8s of a tank then any less and it runs so bad, there is alot of smoke on start up and normaly wen running to could it be the map beeing to rich?
