Car is a 89 FC non turbo not sure what model exactly.

Well, I'm working on a friends fc rx7. Car runs and drives fine, when you get it started.

Sometimes when you turn it over to start nothing happens. I can hear the relay between the fender well and firewall clicking, and something closer to the motor. And if I hold the key, I can hear the fuel pump. Now you turn it off and try again, it starts.

Sometimes you might have to turn it on and off 2 or 3 times before it clicks and starts but it starts. I shorted the starter multiple times to reinact if maybe the starter was the culprit and the starter hits every single time so I'm guessing starter isn't the culprit.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...

Let's see what the 2ndgen guru's have got to say but I'm thinking it's the ignition switch itself.
