RX7 FC S4/5 Door Speaker Setup/Mountings - Help Needed

Hi, I've just recently purchased some S5 door trimmings with the speaker grills on the corners. I know that the S4 Door does not have the speaker mountings, so there for I would possibly have to cut or do some type of modification to it?

I've taken pictures and sourced out some other pictures on the internet of both door series and their differences which seem almost identical and I haven’t really found a guide on how to go about this hence why I am posting this.

So if anyone has done this or if they can be a bit of help on how to go about this it would be really much appreciated.

Here is a picture of my S4 door and where the speaker is apparently meant to go... sooo yeahh any help please?

I plan on putting 6.5" components in my s4 and I found these the other day. I haven't looked into them too much yet to see how much they would stick out or how well they will fit. But they do look promising. To me it would be easier using these instead of having to cut the door. 3dLogics Speaker Pods Products Page.

6.5 should fit in the doors, I hear they might be a little too big. By about 20mm?

The interior steel panel under the outer upholstery panel is not cut out for speakers. The door steel would have to be cut out to fit them.

shouldnt be much of a problem trimming the door for diff. sizes of speakers, the mounting depth is what you need to meas. in the specific location, make sure your not intefering with any moving parts of the glass sliding mechanisms, you need to know allowable depth before buying anything

you'd better look.
I put a set in that has grill protruding by about an inch and I kick the grill off every once in a while getting into the car.
My speakers are mounted onto the door cards, and I didn't want to do any cutting.
Yes,you have to make sure that the speaker is not going to hit the glass inside the door.
Those pods?..nice,but look at the location where you can mount them first. There isn't a hell of a lot of room.
I put in 4x6 under the steering column and cut the passenger side speaker area to accept the other 4x6.works well.

I think 5 1/4" will fit nicely in the door openings. As others here have stated, make sure you buy speakers on the shallow end of the depth scale.

Yeah i think i may go ahead and cut a bit of the door panel out when i get the tools available and speakers i guess, i'll just be looking whats around on the market for the time being. I'll just have to be careful on how i go about this and not cut where the window bracket (correct if i may be wrong) is, where the 2 bolts hold.

Of course im taking the speaker depth into consideration so nothing will touch with any moving parts, obviously and importantly the glass window

Been looking at the Alpine SPS-600C - Type-S Component Speaker and leaning towards them as a friend off mine is getting rid of his for a cheap price.

Any more recommendations are most welcomed

With a set of components You will need an amp to power them. The power from the head unit won't do them justice.
