rx7 engine problem/contemplation
so im lookin to buy a 94 rx-7 but the owner says that "the rear rotor has lost compression and does not run" now im quite new to the rotary engine so i dont know how to fix this. what it would cost ect. i would be buyin the car for only 5k so im wondering how to fix this problem. an then if this would be worth it. cuz im all for a project car an would love to work on it but i have no idea what im doing to be honest.

Usually means a broken apex seal. This means an engine rebuild. If the apex seal broke, the rear rotor and rotor housing will be toast. There may be damage to the rear/center iron as well. The apex seal pieces probably went through the turbo also, meaning it/they may need replacing also.
It could also be something simple, but it is better to plan for the worse and hope for the best. Basically, you should figure on a full engine rebuild (with all/many new parts) and a new/replacement turbo(s) as well.

What he said. ^
If I had to ballpark, assuming this is an FD and that you're an expierenced mechanic even if not familiar with the rotary able to follow the FSM........$3 to $5K, depending on damage, how things spec out and how 'correct' your prepared to do it.
As I've mentioned before to others in your situation....many times it's not the simply the short-block rebuild that proves most difficult. It's frequently the long-block assembly, including the sequential system that is the biggest stumbling block. And being in Idaho I don't think there's a fall-back rotary shop available in a reasonable distance.

is so your saying that the whole rear rotor is shot correct? an high possibility of atleast 1 turbo down. now ive been lookin (with not much luck) but im assuming i can get all these parts shipped to me via online right? an truth is. im not a very experienced mechanic. but i can figure it out one way or another. an as i said id be buying the car for about 5k maybe 6 so if i put between 3 to 5k into it would that honestly be worth it. i mean im new to rotary so i havent learned all this yet?

Rear housing, rear and/or intermediate iron, possibly a rotor and a set of turbos. Plus ALOT of other stuff that would take too long to list.
If your not experienced with rotarys or have some skills/experience turning a wrench, you should pass on it. It will just be a money pit and source of frustration. And not much fun sitting on jack-stands.
