RX-8 motor in an FC??

Well first off, can it be done? looking at some spec sites i got varied results. one said it was a 2.6 liter and another said it was a 1.3 liter. i want a 2004 rx8 motor, it actually has 6 more hp than the rest haha, idk why. i think the 1.3 liter becomes a 2.6 after porting? i found a rx8 motor for 5 grand, looks nice, comes with a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty. i would want a new tranny to go with it. quite expensive but would be pretty awesome. stock 2004 rx8 is 238 hp without counting exhaust modification, intake, or porting. so i was wondering if anyone could help me with this question!! thanks

Anything can be done with time, money and a welder. It doesn't bolt in, but you can fabricate mounts.

Running it is the issue though. The stock ECU won't do it because it will freak not having the rest of the drivetrain. The Renesis needs a bunch of outputs to run the variable intake which few ECUs provide. Just locking all those parts open will result in an engine that is gutless below 7000 RPM.

Here's an example of a Renesis in an FC, but I don't quite now how he is controlling all the intake stuff or even if he is:

As for porting, there isn't much porting that can be done on the Renesis. They are already pretty optimized from the factory.

^ What Aaron said. Controlling it and retaining the advanced variable intake setup is the big challenge.

It's classified as a 1.3 liter, but can also be considered 2.6 liters for comparison with 4-stroke piston engines. A rotary operates like a 2-stroke engine in that there are no wasted "strokes". Read through this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/general-rotary-tech-support-11/rotary-engine-displacement-361207/. Porting rotaries doesn't add displacement either. It's not like a stroker kit for piston engine. It's more equivalent to porting the heads for more airflow into the combustion chambers.

yeah its equivalent to porting the heads AND changing the cam at the same time.
