RX-7 Overheated?
Alright so I have a 1986 RX-7 non turbo and I believe it overheated while I was driving on the freeway. Yesterday I was driving on the freeway for about maybe 10-15 mins on 4th and 5th gear for a distance of about 20 miles. All of a sudden all my warning lights go on for a second so I was freaking out a bit but my car was still able to drive normally on 4th and 5th gear like nothing happened.
I pulled over to the side to find out my engine just shuts itself off when I fully stop. I pop open the hood and see some smoke coming out of the radiator cap and that small tiny hole in between the oil cap and oil filter. The whole pipe was burning hot more than normal.
I start the car up an hour later but it sounds like the engine has problems starting up because I feel the whole car shaking and then it just dies. Tried it again and pressed on the gas as I was starting it and it seemed fine at 2k+ rpm but the thing is if I took my foot off the gas pedal it would just die again. So then I drove it back home because I didn't want to tow it 20 miles back. I had some difficulties while driving because I needed to keep the rpms around 2k while in neutral or it would just die again. Other than that it would drive like normal shifting gears and all that. Will look at it once I get off work.

I hate to say it but it sounds like you cooked it good.A compression test will tell you all.
One thing is you never drive a rotary engine if it is overheating.
It's a tough lesson, but you learn quick!,and you never do again If you did it once.
