RX-7 Oil Pressure issue

I have a 1987 RX-7. Don’t drive it much but when I took it out yesterday I noticed that my oil pressure read between 0 and 5 PSI. Shut it down quick. When I started it up again, it went up to about 45 PSI for a few seconds and then dropped back down to around 0 at idle. If I rev it at that point, the needle doesn’t move. Anyone have any ideas?

First off, what weight oil are you running? That factors in alot

And the sending unit being bad is pretty rare, the connector getting soaked with oil and not making good contact because the oil filter is right above it, very common

Sounds like the gauge or the oil pressure sender is bad
