RPM Gauge doesn't work when cold

I have a strange problem with my RPM gauge. Lately it's been pretty cold outside in the morning when I start my '83, about 30°F. When I start the car and drive to school (about a 20 min. drive) the RPM gauge just stays at 0 the entire time. After school it works fine, it's just in the morning after it's been cold for a while. Any suggestions?

1st gen .
If I recall correctly it is a 'cold solder joint" problem that the clusters encounter.
You can find more info in the 1st Gen Archives (or try 1st Gen Specific) most likely.
