CO Rebuild prices

so i'm looking to get an fc soon.
i was just wondering what kind of prices i should be expecting if i want to get the engine rebuilt.
i've seen a few things here and there but not much else.
also wondering if there is a place i can have it done in colorado or maybe nevada as i travel between the two quite a bit.

also it would be really helpful if someone co0uld school me on what models have what options and such.

go to Precision Import... on federal and near belview (i cant think of the exact cross street) in littleton. Anyhow, depends on the type of rebuild, but figure 1k for the cost of parts in a basic rebuild, if you need new housings/rotors/bareings/etc. It'll go up. Labor typically anywhere is near the 75 bucks an hour mark, porting is usually a straight forward price depending on size. I'd expect it to be around 2k for a basic rebuild.

I got my motor rebuilt there for around 4k, but that was with brand new everything (except housings and rotors, mine were perfect) plus I got a half-bridge port done.
the guys at Precision are awsome and do GREAT work. They also race rx7's and 8's.

Also I have a fd, and I think 13-brew's are a little more expensive to rebuild.

I'm getting mine rebuilt for around $1,500 or so, with a large streetport, but that's because it's a friend doing it for me. haha

Well, a few caveats are in order:
1. Are you doing all the removal and reinstall labor your self?
2. Don't forget to consider all the peripheral's involved in replacing an engine, like oil, coolant, filters, hoses, etc.
3. Are you going to replace the clutch while you have the engine out? Cause it sure is easy with no engine in the car.

The cost of the engine should be around $2500 for a rebuild without new housings. You can get it up to around $4500 if you want new housings etc.
But, if you have to have someone else to the labor to r and r the engine, you are looking at considerably more money.
To give you an idea, I replaced the engine in my second gen convertible, and I would say it cost me around $3100. I had Atkins rebuild the engine, and I used all new hoses and gaskets on the external part of the engine.
But, on my FD, the previous owner had the engine rebuilt at KDR rotary and had them do all of the r and r labor and rebuild. It was around $7500.00. The third gen is more complex and will cost a little more, but you get the drift.

So, that will give you an idea.

you guys are paying too much...

I just had my motor rebuilt and ported by rotary resurrection for about 1600, plus shipping, some powdercoating, and a few gaskets it was still under $1800. I didn't have to replace a few of my hard seals though. But if I hadn't gotten it ported and didn't have anything powdercoated the whole deal would have been under $1400.

I also removed the engine by myself though. It would have been significantly more expensive if I hadn't done that...

You get what you pay for. And by the way, that is not a slam on Kevin. He supplies a good service to the community.
