NJ To Rebuild or Not To Rebuild

So I just picked up a 1990 RX7 GTU and the apex seals are pretty shot on the front rotor, I plan on swapping in an S5 TurboII engine eventually. Should I replace said apex seals any way so that I have the car running while I save up for the new engine or should I save what ever money the seals would cost and just put it towards my new engine? Keep in mind the week or so that this car is not running i will not have a running car unless I borrow one from my parents. Any input that anyone can give is greatly appreciated.

Can you better define "pretty shot"? I thought it was pretty uncommon for the front apex seals to go first?

I plan on picking up a new turbo engine as soon as money allows but for now would it be a good thing to replace my seals. I could always keep the na engine as a back up in case the turbo engine goes south at some point. The front rotor has one bad seal, idk about whether or not it doesn't go bad as easily it's my first rotary, but i get one bump on a compression test and two that don't register on the gauge which i know means one seal is bad from reading around on here.
yo jwteknix im right around the corner from you over in little falls
