WA Rear Strut Installation?

Hi everyone,

I have an '86 fc that I bought recently and the rear struts are no good. I think it's a fairly simple job to replace them but I was wondering if anyone new of/has a detailed explanation and/or suggestions on how to install?

Thanks

You'll find the procedure in the Haynes manual and FSM. Very easy, but you'll need a spring compressor.

Yeah it's super easy... Just remove the strut tower speaker covers, the speakers, remove the two bolts up top, remove the one bolt down below. If you need to put your old springs on the new shocks, you'll need a spring compressor. Reverse procedure.

If you pick up a set of lowering springs at the same time you probably won't even need a compressor..Ive got a set!

^ This is true. You can just put your foot on the strut, aim it towards something soft like some cardboard stacked up against a wall, take an impact to the top of the strut, and zap the strut hat off. Spring goes flying, hits the cardboard, everything is all good! Most lowering springs you don't even need to compress to get them on.

I've done this method numerous times.
