Is this rear iron still usable?
I'm currently rebuilding my 13B-REW that blew a rear apex seal. When the apex seal blew it pretty thoroughly destroyed the rear rotor housing and rotor, but the rear iron escaped mostly unharmed. I say mostly because there is a gouge where the corner seal rides on the iron.
I'm wondering if this iron is cooked, and I should be looking for a new one? It doesn't feel like there is a burr sticking out of the iron, but there is definitely a gouge big enough to catch your nail in. Does anyone have any experience with damage like this? Pictures below.

Thanks,
Wil

I don't know if it's my computer or my eyes, but I couldn't see the gouge in any of the photos. what I will say is that if you are catching your nail on any gouge, and if you have long-term plans for the engine, then just replace the housing now.
Replace it now while you can. If you are broke and need it for a season before a rebuilding, it should run ok. The gouge looks like its outside of where the side seal would be during ignition and should hold compression.
I'm no expert though.

looks perfectly fine to me, the only reason it would be unusable is if there is a raised burr that the apex seal may catch on when sweeping over it and it looks like you already knocked it down. small nicks like that aren't much of a problem.
