rear end shift issues when on or off power

i have an 87' turbo II that feels as if the axle shifts badly when i lay on or off the power. i haven't really tried anything because i don't really know where to start. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Is there clunking when shifting and getting on the throttle abruptly? If so, the front diff mount may be broken.

i don't notice any clunking or anything like that, it just feels like the whole axle twists and sends it off course. it ffreaks me out a bit, but its not a super huge shift, but enough to throw me sideways a bit
