I just purchased an 86 GXL, and of the many issues the car has, the rear defrost button is lit (like its on), I have tried mashing the button to turn it off, but that is not it. This is a minor irritation (I don't mind knowing the problems my car has, but I don't want the car to tell me about it if it cannot fix it itself). My question: Is this something simple (quick fix) or is it a short in the switch/wiring? If this has been addressed previously I apologize. I tried searching, and hunting but didn't see a previous thread. Also I'm not sure it is actually on. By the time I notice it, I've been driving for awhile, and considering its on the back glass, and that its been 85+ degrees and sunny here in Georgia, I don't think the touch test will work.
