on my s4 i didn't have to remove the aux port actuators, but it would have given me a lot more room to work. the real problem for me was getting the heat shield off, as the bolts were pretty rusted.
you 91 is an s5 correct? you search here for how to activate the aux ports, but if i remember correctly (which i rarely do these days) the s5 uses the air pump to activate the ports. so removing the exhaust manifold and cats shouldn't effect their operation right?
