quick clutch question

Ok when I boutght my car I was told it was a t2 engine swap. I cleaned it up and fix many things wrong with it so far and everything seemed to be t2 from an 88 t2. But when I bought a new starter itwas a na starter. And now I need a clutch for its higher boost. Im just courious if the starter is na does that mean the clutch and block and trany are to? Any help to figure this out would be great before I order a new clutch. Thanks

the tranny is likely to be N/A. I am unaware of a way to make an N/A starter work with a T2 tranny.

T2 block bolts up to either tranny - no problem. if you are unsure, count intake ports, check for an EGR provision in the intermediate housing, etc.

I think I read that the 240 flywheel will physically fit in the N/A bell housing, but I would imagine it would still keep the starter from bolting up, so my guess is N/A flywheel ... and therefore clutch.

It has four ports, so it must be a na tranny. Thanks for your help

not sure I follow the logic ...

as I said, the T2 engine will bolt to both trannies - no problem. however, so will the N/A engine.

O I thought the na engines were 6 port, but in all if its a na starter it must be a na flywheel right? So id need the na clutch, I was told it was an engine and tranny from a 88 t2, and the ecu and injectors were and so was the turbo and intake mani that I could tell. Is it possible to bolt all that on a fc na? The original car is a 84 gsl

as I said in both my responses, the engines bolt up to BOTH transmissions. as a matter of fact, expand that to ANY transmission that came behind ANY Mazda rotary! the ports have nothing to do with it.

the only reason I mentioned counting ports at all is because you alluded to being unsure whether or not you had a genuine 13B-T. that' all. 4 ports = the T2 block; 6 ports = N/A block. I was helping you decipher what you have. it had no bearing on your transmission question.

without seeing photos, all I can say for sure is this: if the N/A starter that you bought fits, then it's MOST likely that you've got an N/A flywheel/clutch behind THAT engine.
