Question on interior size
Hey guys,
I was wondering if I'd be able to fit a hockey bag and a pair of hockey sticks into an FD. The sticks are my main concern - they're about 5 1/2 feet long. I've searched the forums, as well as google, and I haven't been able to find anything that helps me out. I'm currently in the process of looking for a new vehicle, and the RX-7 is at the top of my list - however, this will be a daily driver, and I play hockey 2-4 times a week. Can anyone help me out? Anyone play hockey / know someone with an RX-7 that plays hockey? Thanks,

It will suck. With the rear divider out you can lay the sticks across the trunk, across the center console, and into the passenger seat. Then I had to squeeze my bag into the passenger seat, which barely fit. The interior is fragile, and sticks will tear it up.
FDs make terrible daily drivers. At least spend $2k to have a beater car for hockey runs and other stuff. Then if the FD is being prissy you can park it and take the beater.

Meh, I was afraid that would be the answer. I don't need the FD as a "daily driver" in the sense that most people do - I live across the street from my office, and I'm a block away from a train stop for the light rail that runs through town. I live in Dallas, which is not a particularly pedestrian-friendly city, but I've been able to get by without a car for over a year now. I can get rides to and from hockey from friends on my team, and the rail and other friends have been able to get me anything else I need.
However, I'm about done with this whole "without a car" experiment, and I'd like to have a car for hockey and other random errands. I don't expect to need to drive more than 2-3 times a week, and if the FD got finicky I could get by without a car for however long it took to fix (I've been doing it for a year after all). I didn't realize that the interior was that fragile though, I don't want to tear it up with my equipment. I'll have to think about it - thanks man, I appreciate the help.
