CA Question about rear hatch stays (FB)

Hi, this is Diane from Northern California. I have an 85 RX7 GSL that needs replacement lift supports for the back hatch. My model has a windshield wiper on the back window and all the after market lift supports I can find are for applications without a wiper. All of these are too long for my car. Does anyone out there know a source for replacement lift supports or have a suggestion for fixing this problem? Right now i have a golf putter to hold up the hatch when it is open! Thanks for any suggestions!

no difference in terms of physical fitment. you just have to figure out how to transfer the electronic interface. that part requires some work.

I actually did find a significant difference in length. The ones I ordered (and am returning) were about an inch too long and the hatch would not close. After reviewing an old set of messages from 2003-2004 I checked out strongarm 4709 lifts and their length seems to match my existing lifts...about 26 1/2 " versus close to 28" for the other ones I checked out. I have ordered the strongarms and we will see! Thanks for your message!

I would have to check the dimensions of the Gen II struts, but I find that depending on where you try to buy some things, vendors will sell Gen II parts even when the year you give them is Gen I. perhaps that's what happened in your case.

and ... you're welcome.
