MA Rear Hatch Struts (with wiper)

Hi,

Anyone used these before ? I found these on ebay. Seem like a good price.

Looks like some cutting of the old one and remove the wiring but you get a pair of them for $50.00.

One would work for the drivers side, but you need the one with the wiper parts for the passenger side. I had some good spare lifts and changed our the drivers side this last weekend. When it came to the passenger side, I found this style would not work. It has a disconnect for the wiper when the hatch is up.

IF MEMORY SERVES:

The only differences between with and without wiper is the... attachments... that come on the tube. The mounts on each side should remain the same, as the overall length and compressed length.

Amirite?

Strong Arm brand sold by NAPA has instructions on how to re-mount the OEM wiper harness/hardware on them, so its doable.
OR
do what I did and....*gag*... buy an OEM wiper strut/harness. "only" $187 when they were available.
haven't had the heart to dare use it....

hatch struts

Here's my cheap fix - hope pic downloads- using 12 inch length former antenna flatten ends, drill holes and fit 2 x 10mm Terry clips using little split pins to each end,- a slim length of flat metal is better though . Cost -little or nought if bits lying around.
Sorry -system not allowing pic attachment !!!!!
