Problems after installing used motor

Hey everybody i just bought a rx7 fd 1993 ... it needs a fresh paint job and a new engine.... well i bought a new(used) engine from a japanese parts store and got this tuner mechanic to swap it for me ... he did all the work and he told me there is not gnna be any guarenttee that it will run perfectly due to the fact that it is a used engine...

so yesterday he finally finishd and he did a compression test ... apparantly two of the "ports or w/e you call it" was fine and the third one wasnt ... so when it idles it kind of misfires... but wen the car is running you dont feel it ... as well when we turned it on for the first time it was burning an insane amount of oil and alot of smoke was coming from the exhaust ... he told me that the engine has been sitting for a while and they put oil into it so that it doesnt cease up ... and it has to run ... and we ran it for about an hour and it stopped .. but when it is revved it still passes out smoke ... also .. the coolant gauge did not move at all .. but at one point the light came on stating that there is no coollant which we just filled up ...

please let me knwo what you guys think .... i know i should have done a rebuild from the begginign but this route was iniatally cheaper and i was too excited to get it on the road ... just incase you guys wnat to bash me for that lol

Oh boy

In the 3rd gen FAQ thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/
Scroll down the C section where you'll find 2 links to compression tests. Here is one:
http://www.fd3s.net/compression_test.html

What numbers did you see when doing the compression test?

We call them rotors not ports. 2 rotors. 1 front rotor. 1 rear rotor. Ports refer to intake ports or exhaust ports - the holes that the air flows through. Some learning material here:

Yep, sounds like you're pretty screwed. However, there may be an easy solution if you are indeed burning coolant. Check out my thread detailing how I dealt with this issue in less than an hour and for a cost of under 4 dollars:

Best of luck.

oo i see .. and as for the compression test number i dont know ... he just told me one of them was lower ...

and as for checking the coolant seal ... we filled up the coolant but ... the light comes on and the needle does not move at all so i dont knwo whta the issue there is ...

but he said that today its working a little better ... and the gas that it had in there (since the car was sitting for 2 years) .. was old and it just ran out so he wanst to test it out with some 94 octane and see if it goes away ... (crossing my fingers lol)

over all i have a feeling i need to get this rebuilt ... or mayb fix it up and sell it to someone that would want to do that ...

im still not sour about the situation seein how much i spent on it so far ...

thanks for hte help guys
