I still have the window sticker from the 88 SE that I bought in Tampa, Florida in June of 1988.
MSRP (Including Recommended Dealer Prep): $16,150.00
Electric Sunroof: $595.00
Subtotal: $16,745.00
Freight: $235.00
Total: $16,980.00
Air Conditioning: $995.00
Adjusted Dealer Margin: $400.00
Waxoyl: $199.95
Paint Sealant: $189.95
Fabric Guard: $129.95
Undercoating: $189.95
Floor Mats: $79.95
Pin Stripes: 0
Total: $19,164.75
Adjusted Dealer Margin, Waxoyl, Paint Sealant, Fabric Guard, and Undercoating all all bogus items, so I declined them. Every car came with paint clear coat and undercoating from the factory, and I spent about $9 to Scotchguard the interior myself. The Waxoyl was really bad stuff that was advertised as saving the owner from needing to wax the car, but in a year or two it would haze over and make the car look like a glazed donut. Fortunately a friend of mine bought an 86 model and warned me about the Waxoyl. The paint on my car still looks pretty decent to this day.
The only other options available for the SE were the automatic transmission and the rear seats, but I do not recall their pricing since I had no interest in them.
I ended up actually paying $15,994 for the car, which was the best deal I could find after over a month of shopping.
This website has a nice calculator if you want to see how those prices compare to today's dollar.
