power steering upgrade?
power steering upgrade?
Year 87
Model turbo II
the steering on my car is ultra heavy and i dont really understand why. i have another car that has a manual rack and its way easier to drive.
Im wondering how hard it is to do a power steering conversion. what parts are involved other than a new rack, pressure lines, return lines and the pump/reservoir?
are there any sensors or an ECU/computer that id have to buy as well?

Not quite clear on this Mark.
Do you have power steering already and think that it is not sufficient?
Do you want to change TO a manual rack,or change a manual racked car to Power steering?
(alternative: look up: Toyota MR2 Electric Power steering pump..trust me,it's interesting.).

You named the parts pretty well to do the conversion.
I am not totally sure if the Harness has the Plugs on it to hook up the ECU though.
It sits in the driver's side kick panel.
Myself,I do not have the pulley for the PS on my engine as I am using that location for an FFE trigger, and the Pump bolt location is used for the sensor. That is Why I know about the Electric PS pump.Essentially it doesn't need a pulley..just 12 volts.
