Just recently when i'm driving, ebrake off, the brake light on the console is on and i find when i get out of the car there's a burning smell... new to these cars and just wondered if it's a common problem with the factory calipers of if it's just mine...

and also, my car was stripped of any sort of emblem when i bought it and was wondering if there's a way to tell what model it is. It's non-turbo and a 13b 87 5speed with no power options.... input would be appreciated

 

It sounds like your e-brake cable needs to be adjusted, and is causing your rear brakes to drag.

For the model, you can check the standard specifications thread at the top of this section. Compare the options for different models with what you have. Keep in mind that over the years previous owners may have swapped parts, which will make a 100% identification unlikely.
