Please help, can't start car!

Hi guys,

I made a genuine effort to find an answer to my question in a thread but was unable to, that's why I've asked here. I've bought a S5 Turbo FC that came with an aftermarket security system. The system works like this:

1. Insert the key and turn it to the accessories position
2. Press a button (there is only one button) on a small remote on the same key ring as the car key (came like this)
3. Turn key to crank, car starts normally

The problem is that if you don't press the button on the small remote, the car won't crank at all - as if the ignition circuit is disrupted. Just to clarify, there is no noise when attempting to crank without first pressing the button. Foolishly, I have lost this remote and I am subsequently completely unable to start the car! I tore up the carpet on the passenger side to check if it was related to the CPU, but nothing there looks non-factory. Could someone please suggest where I could go looking for the component that is isolating my engine? I am unable to contact the seller and really miss driving my car! For reference, I have been able to start it in the past and can confirm the system was working before. If you have any idea where to look, could you please detail how to access the part specifically? I am not yet familiar with the schematics of the engine bay. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thankyou!!!!

Have you considered removing the aftermarket security system entirely? Remove it wire by wire and ensure that all of the wiring that was either tapped into or spliced is properly repaired. Sometimes I feel as though those things cause more harm than good. I've removed every one I've come across on a car that I've purchased.

Hey mate,

Thankyou for the reply! That's exactly the trouble - I don't know where it is! Do you have any ideas of where I might find it on a S5 Turbo?
