I just picked up my FC over a month ago. Finally gave it a wash today, and I was kind of surprised that a bunch of damage and discoloration had somehow been hidden (I got the car from RightDrive, and none of this damage was visible when I picked it up - it only showed up after washing the car today).

The front right headlight and the hood worry me the most. My car's pretty face! Ruined! Similar discoloration showed up on the rear bumper (and cracks that weren't visible before).

Just wondering if anyone knows what might have caused this discoloration/damage, or how to get rid of it without spending loads of money.

Any input would be appreciated.

20 year old car, though it does look resprayed. Probably poor job.

Get it clearcoated and polished, should work.

probably cracked up and repaired.

 

Im not positive Im just giving a suggestion but it can be bondo that is showing up under the paint. Definitely looks like the car got resprayed, probably when the bodykit was put on. Maybe the bodywork is starting to fall apart.

 

The car was repainted at some point, I think it used to be black. It's just weird that it wasn't visible at all until the car was washed.

Maybe I'll just have to take it to a bodyshop to see if they can do anything.

 

Yeah that is weird and it sounds like a good idea to take it to a body shop.

 

Hit it with a coat of wax and see if it goes away.

have u tried to get it buffed or buffing it ur self? although what cab sed about bondo could be right

 

Could be as simple as shitty paint. I'm being straight foward. Bad paint and bad prep work leads to crap later. Sorry to be bringer of bad news

 

always a good idea to use top notch primer and clear coat. dont scimp on that ****!

 

i agree with the above statements. the prep work prior to painting is really what makes or breaks a real paint job. you need to sand that crap and be sure to make it a rough surface. you get what you pay for though. just make sure who ever fixes it knows what they are doing. I know a body guy in NH who knows his **** but you are nowhere near there. lol good luck with the fix i guess
