Unhappy overheating confusion

ok, well this is the story

i bought a 1991 na rx7, and it overheats. It overheats in town, where i perfer to turn the engine off because it wants to get hotter than 220 degrees. It also overheats a little on the freeway and stays at like 210 degrees. I do not have that plastic shroud that goes on the bottom of the car that is supposed to help with air flow (or something like that idk where to buy one). I also have a koyo racing radiator on my car, however the guy i bought it from did some kind of ghetto mod to it (I'll try to post pics of it. basically he cut the filler neck off and stuck a rubber hose on it and connected that to a metal coolant reservoir of some sort that looks old :/). and I changed the thermostat to a Mazda oem one. and my fan clutch seems to offer good resistance when its warm. and if my water pump was out would it drip water on the ground or is there another way to tell? (my car doesn't drip water)

My questions are: 1.What could be the cause of my car overheating?

2.should i replace the radiator and reservoir? or just one? how could i check to see if that is the problem?

3.what exactly is the difference between an s4 and s5 thermostat? (i ordered an s5 but idk if they gave me an s4 or s5 one)

4.anything else i should look at?

Looks like you need the radiator boiled out. If it's clogged it won't flow like it should. Internal calcium will insulate the heat from transfering to the metal. it's all about getting rid of the heat. Look inside with a flashlight. You should see shiney metal all the time. Check it out and get back to us. I had to flush mine out with hot water and acid. Also are the radiator fins mashed over. LOL

there could be air in the system. those remote reservoirs should be mounted above the highest point of where the coolant exits the engine. i'd go back to the original setup. g/l

Yea i would look into getting a whole new radiator from the looks and sound of it, flush the system and bleed it good. corksport sells a good one and they have a fan shroud that fits on to it too if that helps
