Near the front of the factory service manual you will find a maintenance and inspection schedule. Follow the 'unique' schedule if you periodically race your car, drive only short distances, or otherwise drive in adverse conditions. In the Lubrication chapter you will find an SAE Viscosity table that lists the proper oil viscosity for the temperature range of your driving region. You can download the manual for free here:
Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals

I like the Castrol GTX brand for engine oil, although any leading brand will work fine as long as it is the correct viscosity and has an API rating of SN, SM, SL, or SJ. The SF rating listed in the manual is obsolete.

The transmission will work best with synthetic gear oil, otherwise shifting tends to be really notchy. I like Red Line brand, but other top brands like Royal Purple, Idemitsu, Amsoil, etc. will also work fine. While you are at it you can also put synthetic gear oil in the differential, although synthetic does not make as much difference in the rear end as it does in the transmission.

Use only ethylene glycol (yellow-green not orange-red) coolant, and mix it with distilled water as per the Cooling chapter of the service manual. You can get distilled water in the regular bottled water section of most drug stores and some grocery stores. After refilling the coolant, be sure to bleed the air out of the system as per the manual.

I use Baby oil..
Not just ANY baby oil ..but Synthetic Baby oil..NO Babies were used in making this oil!

Sorry man..I jokingly like to answer FAQ's..OIL is #1...Followed by "my car won't start"...
...then there is "is that a Salami in your Pocket STYX"??!...(YES,I went shopping...DUH!..wasn't gonna pay 5 cents for a bag!)

EVIL has pretty well summed it up in a nutshell but additional Info is already available,so a cup of Coffee and a little time can ease your woes on what to expect out a stock based vehicle.

*trust me..I started to read this Forum..like 24/7 for years..and It still amazes me to the Interesting stuff that is being documented about these cars.
Now when I cook I ask if you would like "premix"..instead of fries!

Yes they do!
They started charging 5 Cents for a plastic bag..Even Walmart charges you for bags. They have a "limit" though,so if you go over a certain amount of bags required they charge you just the Max price...not extra.
Now you have the luxury of hoarding 2000 Freakin plastic bags, and when yo buy a lot of stuff in small increments it adds up ..in bags, and money put out to take your **** home!
A lot of stores sell the "eco friendly" material bags for 99 cents..So you re-use and do not have to buy a plastic bag. (hardly any paper bags are used anymore..well, except fast food..)

I just get a Bag full..of Bags..and give them to Salvation Army so they can use them.

Back on Topic...I bought Baby oil....lol!

I work at Walmart, max is 10 bags. After that they are free, so it effectively becomes a flat rate of $0.50

I heard that plastic bags made from synthetic oil cause leaks and are not compatible with plastic bags made from mineral oil, and once you use synthetic bags you can't go back to using mineral bags or they will fall apart.
