Is the oil pressure sending unit 2 parts? If so what does the second part do? Is it a buffer

Sorry, I put the year make and model in my profile, I forgot to list it. It's a 1990 rx7 coupes non turbo. I'm just curious because I have the sender on another engine that I swapped in and I remember reading that it had 2 parts

There is (essentially) 2 parts to the OPSU, you have the unit itself, and a little black box that bolts with the slave cylinder. But if you think just your sender is bad, you can change that alone and your fine

The "box" looks more like a chunk of Hash with an eyelet so you can put it on a bolt at the slave clylinder..
and ya it is just smooths out signal to the gauge.
