I have an 88 turbo with approx 180k original, and about 5k on a mazda remanufactured engine. On the original engine idle was 30 psi, and everything else was right at 60 psi. Of late the oil pressure is 30 at idle, but sometimes drops to almost 20, and above idle it creeps up to about 45-50psi instead of instantly shooting up to 60 like it used to on the original motor. I don't want the motor to be damaged. Suggestions? Thanks!

 

That oil pressure is still acceptable.

What weight of oil are you running?

Who did the installation of the engine?

 

I am running 10w40 non synthetic oil. The swap was done by a company called Rotary Performance in northern VA. It has been sitting for a while but now I am trying to sort some of its' issues out and drive it several times a week.
