Oil Pressure Gauge Not Working?

I just installed a used engine to replace my very dead 1985 GSL-SE 13b. It starts and runs, but my dash gauge shows zero oil pressure. I know I can install a gauge in a banjo bolt, but is there an easier way to see if I am getting any oil pressure at all. There was a slight leak at the oil cooler, so I'm pretty sure it is just the gauge. How can I check the gauge itself? Thanks.

did you hook the wire from the harness up to the sender?

I think so, but ill check. The car sat for five years, but the gauge worked fine before.

I checked the oil pressure gauge and it is connected to the wiring, so it should be sending a signal. I've got a spare gauge, so I think I'll try to swap them out and see what happens.

Can you take pictures of your sender and where the wire is on the harness? I need to connect my Pressure gauge and Water temp gauge but wiring isn't my forte. I have a thread for my Water temp one and having the info about my Oil Pressure would be extremely helpful

they make a sandwich plate that sits between the engine and oil filter, that has NPT threaded holes to house a new sender.
The engine sender's hole is BPT.

The wire is easy to recognize because it is the only slide on connector on the car that i am aware of. It is located drivers side just below the oil filter.
