WA Oil metering pump question, s5

My question is about maintaining this oil metering system. Is there any special maintenance I can do to keep this system functioning properly After extensive reading,(using the search function) I cannot find anything specific addressing this. Thanks in advance!!!---David, (1990 convertible, 120,000 miles. car runs and drives like a new vehicle)

Not really. If the lines leak, replace the crush washers at the pump, or replace the lines. If and when the pump fails, the ECU will go into 'limp mode' to prevent engine damage.

Actually, I think you should remove the lines and "valves" every once and a while and clean or replace them, and make SURE the vacumn lines are in good shape, and I really do not trust the electronic pumps very much, so you might consider checking its operation per the FSM.
What I have observed is grooving and scoring of the irons near the OMP injector port, which leads me to believe that the proper amount of oil is not being delivered. Stoppage points are the pump itself, the "valves" or "injectors", and the lines.
Personal preference is to use an adaptor block and make the pump remote feed from a tank of two cycle oil. Since 2-cycle oil is meant to burn, there is less risk of carbon being formed which can also cause damage to housings and clog the injector ports.

Making sure to keep to your oil change intervals...and making them a little closer might help.

+1

I remember seeing a long time ago a vendor that makes a kit to do this. Do you know of any? I would like to stop premixing and go to this method.

Rotary Aviation/ RWS (Real World Solutions) has them available, they are not particularly expensive.
