You should REALLY find out where the leak is so you can address it further.
It's like an In-ground pool leak..the water goes down but where?..
Find the leak and find the problem.

+1, find the leak and go from there.
Get a bottle of degreaser like mean green and spray everything down so its clean. Then let is sit and trace the oil to its point of origin.

ya, its coming from the base of the oil cooler. it isn't causing any smoke or oil pressure issues though. I've put some Lucas engine oil stop leak in it in the past and it almost completely stops the leak... but by the time its due for another oil change the leak is back. I don't want a bandaid anymore, i want it fixed! I mean 30 yrs old, somethings gotta leak right? hahah

My only advice is to take the lines off the cooler and see why its leaking...most likely there is a rubber o-ring or some sort of crush washer that needs replacement.

Or you could upgrade to a new cooler with stainless braided lines with an fittings and be worry free. I have an external oil cooler on my car with braided lines.
Its nice because when I change my oil all I have to do is simply take the bottom line off and crack the top line to allow the oil to drain out.

Stop putting crap in your oil for one thing.
The lines are fitted onto the cooler with copper crush washers that can be a source of leakage over time.
I think they are either 18 or 21 mm size.
the bolt on the oil cooler line up top is 15/16th or 23mm.
