Oil leak help please

I have an 88 na and Im losing quite a bit of oil from the oil filter area. Its not the filter its self or the mounting area the filter goes on to. With the engine running i can see oil trickling down just below the oil filter from under the little lip there. Has anyone had this before? Is there a gasket that can leak there or is the housing cracked.

Replace the o-rings underneath the filter pedestal. There are 2 of them.

Just wanted to do a follow up. With a little hair pulling was able to get the O-rings from the dealer, and got them put in fairly easy. Thank you for your reply it made it a lot easier to get parts once i knew what i needed. The old ones were all cracked and hard so it was clearly the problem once it was apart. Again thanks for shedding some light on it for me.

Now all I have to do is figure out what is causing my bouncing idle and I will be able to play. woo.

you should look at your oil cooler lines and the oil pan to check for any other leaks that y might and probably will have....

Yea my top oil line is leaking a bit, looks like it is just coming from the copper washer though, going to replace that this weekend... Can I use any banjo type copper washers or should I order the OEM ones?

Any crush washers of the same size will work, and there should be 2 per end. The lines themselves do commonly develop leaks after 20+ years, so don't be too surprised if replacing crush washers doesn't fix it. The lines can be rebuilt or replaced with braided lines. Corksport sells some pre-made lines for $130.

Thanks for the tip man. I have never been on that site (corksport.com) and that's the cheapest I have seen those for online. Also kind of an off topic question for the thread but for changing vacuum lines do you reccomend using regular car line or do you need higher temp like silicone or something?
