CA Oil Leak

So I just picked up my FC and it has a small oil leak that drips to the ground.

It looks like it's coming from the oil pan.

---

Has anyone experienced this and how did you resolve it?

Do I need a new oil pan or just the gasket around it?

---

Any positive input is greatly appreciated! Still noob to the Rotary Scene, haha.

Thoroughly degrease the engine to make sure that the leak is where you think it is, because it can come from above then collect on the rim of the pan.

That said, oil pan leaks are very common. It will require the pan to be pulled, the surfaces cleaned thoroughly, then a new gasket installed with a skim coat of RTV on each side (I like Permatex Grey these days). Some will recommend you don't use a gasket, but I always use one and have never had a leak.

That's what I'm probably going to do.

I heard to remove the oil pan will be a pain.

Correct me if i am wrong but i think to remove the ouil pan you need to remove the motor mount and lift the motor up slightly.

Yes. Just use the tire change jack that came with the car on the transmission bellhousing.

I'm pretty sure it's an oil pan leak..

It's leaking a lot.
