Oil in fuel
I have done a lot of engine work on 4 stroke's but I am interested in doing some on rotary's. While getting info from this forum, I have come across people using oil/fuel mix, instead of having an oil pump do the work. On 4 stroke's it is well known that oil in the fuel lowers the octane rating. How does this affect the rotary, and is it a good idea for powerful engines

Search the term "premix" and have fun reading. This is probably the most discussed topic on this forum past "can I turbo my na?".
As for your concerns, it takes a load of oil to lower octane an appreciable amount. Rotary premix is generally around 100:1 or leaner, so you don't have to worry.

N/A's ideal octane is about 83..so really the Regular blend of gas at an 85-87 octane is sufficient.
anything higher on an N/A is overkill and a waste of good fuel!
