Question NOOB Question - short block vs. long block

Hello,
I have a newbie question.
I have been browsing the for sale threads, and sometimes people refer to long and short blocks. Isn't it the same engine.... the 13b? What is the difference?
Thanks

A long block is an engine with all of the accessories, manifolds, water pump housing etc... , and a short block is just the keg.
