Red face noob question (bought a new engine)

Well I just bought a spare s4 TII engine about a month ago. Its stock from factory with about 7k miles on it.

Its stored in a garage with all the fluids drained out.
but someone said that it could potentially rust itself out
simply by sitting in an uninsulated garage.

Its freezing cold here in MI. But the engine will never
be in direct contact with water of any sort.

can it possibly rust and or lock up in this condition?

You know how your local weather always talks about relative humidity? THAT'S the source of water most folk don't think about. Unless your engine was heated then hermetically sealed, you got that air in the engine when you sealed it up and that's where the water you need to worry about, will come from.
