No pressure in 1rst gear after changing Master & Slave cylinder

Hey...I have a 91 RX7 vert non-turbo with around 173k on it. I was having a issue for the last couple of weeks losing pressure in my clutch. I was told I needed to replace the Master Cylinder and the Slave Cylinder. I went ahead and did that today. Now, when I start up the car I have no problems. It'll shift into first and everything fine. Its after I stop at a red-light or something like that and shift into 1rst gear I'll lose pressure and the peddle is glued to the floor. It seems like its only when I'm in 1rst gear. In fact, I can start out better in 2nd gear then 1rst. After I get the car running I have no more issue with the clutch, pressure is fine.

I might be wrong, but could I still have air in my system? Is air getting in some where? Could it be something else? Any help would be awesome!! I'm in college, this is my DD and like everyone else out there can't afford to be without my car.

Thanks in advance!!!

Was the flex hose also replaced? It could have easily developed a pinhole leak.

It could also just be something very simple like a loose bleeder.

I think that might be it. I have one on order. I put Duck Tape around the old one and it seems to improve. I've also bleed the line again. I should have the new hose this afternoon or tomorrow morning. I'll change it and repost. My only concern is the lost of fluid I'm getting. The concern is that I can't find a leak anywhere. I've followed the lines, check the slave, check under the dashboard, and look all overthe transmission area, still nothing. I don't think I would have that much air in the line to lose as much fluid has I've lost. Of course if air is still in the system it make sense. LoL

There can be a ton of air in the system when you replace both the slave and master. I just did this on a friend's car (along with a new flex line), and I we did the open-press pedal-close-lift pedal routine about 50 times before bubbles stopped appearing. You can run the line from the bleeder directly into the reservoir to keep from having to constantly refill it.

The master slave cylinder is busted. I didn't realize it was leaking until last night when I got in the car and had no fluid. The replacement part will be in tomorrow. The hose went on backorder and won't be in until Tuesday. I'll keep ya'll posted. I'm thinking since the leak is pretty bad. When I press the clutch is pushing all the fluid out of the slave causing me to lose pressure. Then when I release the clutch it sucks air in. Did that make sense? Either way... I'm screwed!!!

Definitely possible to get defective parts from the auto parts store. I've had more than a few myself.

Generally my rule with clutch hydraulics is to just replace everything at once. Master, slave, flex hose. One one fails, the other is not far behind.

Yep, for under $100 you can replace all 3 parts of the hydraulic system. Leaks can be hard to find at times; they can even go into the firewall from the backside of the master cylinder.

I am having problems on my 88 GTU as well, just wondered the best place to purchase all 3 parts for less than $100?
