NewBuyer-Safe mode issues?

Hello I was looking to buy a 94 rx7 and the owner said to me the following:

The car runs great when the ecu doesnt go into safe mod in which youll have to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and then ur good again. The jap block could use a bpu computer but you dont have to. i only ran low boost and been meticulous with maintenace since the new engine.

94 for 10k has 51k on new block.

Also any gotchas I should watch out for when I got look at this car? Anything during the test drive to look out for? Is that safe mode a big problem?

Thanks in advance I hope to become apart of the club

Check codes:http://www.banzai-racing.com/FD&S5_error_codes.htm

It is not uncommon for the electric metering oil pump to fail on S5 FCs and FDs. When it fails, the ECU will default to limp mode/safe mode and seriously limit performance. The ECU can also be damaged when this happens, so replacing it may also be necessary.
