Newbie here....

I've got 2 rx7s
1985 GSLSE
1988 black convert.

Can never get them to pass smog in Cali....oh what to do.
Anyway, the convertible may have a throttle issue. I bogs down going uphill in 4th gear at 60 mph. Also, I can really race it around and it bogs down when I step on the pedal to accelerate....usually around 4000rpms.

Anywho...is it a TSP problem or should I rebuild the fuel injectors....???

ANYONE, PLEASE ADVISE.........

Sounds like your main cat / precats are plugged. Take them off and look for damage / melted sections.

So you think it is NOT the TPS ...? The mechanic at Mazdatrix gave that suggestion.

VA leanin towards exhaust as well...

keep in mind, however, you can completely restore your exhaust to mazda oem stock specs and still not pass emission smog tests. mainly if the engines have over 50-100,000 on them. internal combustion rotaries are still the newbies on the block, thus, less refined.

Indeed. I went from no cats back to souped up exhaust with cats, thinking it would pass.....but it didn't. I like it better now since the no cats WAS causing lots of bad fumes and exhaust, making me dizzy...not good.

Anyway, I still want to know why my car is bogging down....any ideas?

VA not saying this is the problem, but...

check the plug on the coolant thermo sensor... one pin backed out on mine and driving under any load was veeeeeeeeeeeery erratic... most the time the hesitations occurred in the middle rpm range...

hope this helps...
