Newbie-advice please

I bought the first turbo II that came out in 1987. I've babied it and pampered it and not driven it in the rain as much as I can. Anyway, life being what it is, it got blocked in inside my garage a while ago and, one thing leads to another and wallah, 15 years go by without ever starting it. So I got it out this past weekend, expecting to pick up where I left off(the car has literally NEVER had anything wrong with it), but wow, time did a number on it.

The clutch master cylinder is toast. We drained the (kerosene by now) gas out of the tank and flushed that. We flushed the fuel lines. Getting good pressure to the fuel rail so I'm thinking...awesome. Let's light it up! We put some marvel mystery oil in the cylinders and hand turned the crank to re-seat the seals without scoring them. Everything seemed to be going fine. But the car will not start. Not even a hiccup. Checked the plugs and they were fouling at first with the mystery oil but once we purged all of that out, the thing is just not lighting off. I suspect either the fuel rail or the injector itself. We never let any of the bad gas get to the rail because we pulled the lines off to purge the system. But I guess the fuel that was in the injector or injector lines could have turned to varnish and clogged? We are getting really good hot sparks from all four plugs(we replaced all the plugs btw), but very little if any fuel into the cylinders at all. Anyone else have additional ideas?

Anyway, that's my story. Thanks!

welcome to the board.

you may need to pull the injectors and send them out for cleaning.

you should visit Aaron Cake's website and read his writeup on starting an Rx-7 after a long period in storage.

The fuel sock in the gas tank can easily be clogged after all this time. You could pull the return fuel line and place the hose into a jug and then jumper the fuel check connector, which would allow you to turn on the fuel pump w/key to on.

Yeah, we pulled both the feed and return lines just to make sure we didn't get any bad gas in the injector. BUT it didn't seem to help. Whatever damage was done to the injector must have already been in there.

so , you are getting fuel pressure , and you're getting spark for sure ? its not flooded or anything ? try deflooding it , then try it again see if you can smell or see any gas in the motor ,

Also . remember these cars don't have cylinders

try aron cakes start up proceedures .

Also, check the Brown wire at the TPS for 5 volts w/key to on. If it has a very low reading it could possibly cause the injectors to not fire.

I looked for the brown wire you were referring but not sure I've found it. There is a white and brown wire, and a black wire. Although admittedly I might be looking at China when I should be looking at Greenland...

Is the fuel sock near the gas tank drain plug?
