TX Newb 13B question here...

Hey guys and gals,

I've got an '80 model S1 and I'm eventually going to put a FI 13B in it. I was wondering which motor would provide the most reliable power in the 300hp range. I think that amount of power would be silly fun and give good balance to such a small car. I'm already planning on putting a Haltech in it. I have been scouring ebay for motors and it looks like I can get a good T2 motor/trans for like a grand, but the 3rd gen motors are running about twice that....any suggestions?

I'm well aware of the rear end and trans problems...just need a little advice on picking the right series engine.

Thanks for your help, and sorry about posting such a newb question, but I'm trying to get my post count up so I can browse the classifieds again.

At 300 HP the cheapest option will be a s4/5 TII motor as they easily handle that power, but you will need to get a different turbo.

Your best bet is to post this in the 1st gen section, or just search around for all the other discussion regarding topics like this.

A S4 or S5 13B turbo with a minor turbo upgrade will get you to 300HP fairly easily. Look at the BNR hybrid turbos.
