New to potential issues..

I'm sure I dont have sub zero assitance Bkuz in the mornings I have to hold my rpms at 2-3,000 for my car to start idling. I was curious one of these mornings and set up my camera to record my exhaust during cold start up and I witnessed a small puff of smoke. now in the morning there is condensation on the car so I'm guessing it's possible to be in the exhaust. I'm premixing and this is my first Rex so I don't know if what I smell is gas,oil or coolant. I dont know what's considered sweet. If I focused enough this morning I could see very faint light smoke from the exhaust during warm up. how can I seriously diagnose this.

Vehicle info needed.

In general, a little puff of smoke/steam in the morning is vaporization. If it's grayish, it can be a little bit of oil burn-off, which may be the result of oil control rings allowing oil to seep past while the car sits each night.

1987 turbo II
about 2,000 miles on rebuild
street port, scalloped light weight rotors, 3mm seals
full custom exhaust, no cat
using rotella t 15w40
runs on premix

im aware of the morning cold starts but i guess from the description i just cant tell if its good or bad, i mean yea its light smoke its not dark but i dont really know how much is a little or a lot and for how long it should be smoking to be a problem.

If you're pre-mix ratio is a little high, you can end up with some smoking. If it's oil getting past the control rings, it's really only a problem if you're going through oil really quickly. I.E. if your adding a quart of oil ever few hundred miles, that's a pretty significant issue.

Also, a fresh rebuild will require some time to break-in. The seals may seat better as the engine gets some more miles on it.

ok kool i think it is due to pre mix. unfortunately, i just turned my car on after adjusting the clutch and as i drove it around it felt like it wanted to die. i got some back fire and parked. my idle was lower than normal and i suspected that my trailing coil was dead again.( was my first main issue when i got the car) to my surprise there was spark in both coils and all cables. this is how it went after it started acting weird and i turned it off.

started the car and it took a few seconds of keeping the key turned and pushing the gas.
engine shook back and forth until it finally ran.
low rpm, low exhaust sound kinda sputtering.
stayed on just long enough for me to check the coils and turned off as i returned the my seat.

this is exactly what happened when the coil wasnt firing but i have no clue whats wrong now sense theres spark. i suspected maybe a flooding but i search and search for characteristics of it and i cant find a damn thing. im sure its running on one rotor, thats what it was last time and it feels the same.

i had changed a rusty tank to brand new when i first got it, just changed the fuel filter yesterday and was planning on doing a fuel cleaner like techron. just some info to let u know where the cars been. not sure if the fuel system has anything to do with it. my idle is normally at 1,000rpm but remember its street ported. please help =/
