New Member, Need help on visualising a wire!!

hey guys i have a 1987 series4 13BT FC
an was wondering what this wire was an the function of it ?
i bought the car 3 weeks ago an she was running fine ,
just today my car wasnt running right, idle was rough an everytime i would accelerate the car would jump from 3000rpm to 5000rpm then it would backfire hard an when i mean hard i mean LOUD!!!

so i got her on my hoist at work an i seen this wire cable tied to the bracket ....dodgy....

it was connected to the catalytic converter but seems like it snapped off ....
i dont know what it is can anyone please identify it too me ? maybe this is causing my car to run soo shitty....

welcome to the board.

not 100% sure on this, but on the Gen I cars there is warning light for the exhaust system temperature. my guess is that if the Gen II cars have such as warning light, then that's the wire that feeds it.
