New Member. Las Vegas. FD3S R1

Hey Team,
I just picked up a '93 Rx7 R1. I got it from a guy on this forum and drove it back to Vegas. The Vehicle has a Rebuilt motor and lower mileage trans. Everything is in excellent shape and it is plenty fast.

Since I am in one of the hottest cities in the U.S., my first concern is heat. I have a Koyo radiator setup with better fans and a low temp switch. But I am considering getting a hood with vents. Any tips or tricks on this ?

Second, Since my engine has less than 25k miles, I would like to do the external 2-cycle oil mod. I found plenty of info on this, but I haven't found a solid tutorial with pics. Any help would be appreciated.

- Dave

Any other FD's in Vegas ?

I am having some traction issues, so I am putting in Solid Mounts and a trans brace & Changing the Trans Oil. Anyone in Vegas want to help out ?

Not sure why you'd want to do that but its your car. Might want to use the Search feature to search on past threads on those topics in the 3rd gen forum.

To find locals, check the Regional sub-forum for your area.

Here is the 3rd gen FAQ thread. Spend some time reading to learn more about the car.

I live in Vegas too and I was wanting to buy a fd as well. I was wondering how you like it and how it handles the Vegas heat

try sincityrotary.com for local help or bring it by the only local rotary shop.

Buy better tires for the traction issue. Solid mounts are very loud for street use.

@HppRX7
My tires are practically new, and I only seem to have traction issues on cooler days. Maybe I'll look into a diff.

@sheckephano
The car is a blast to drive. My A/C is leaking a bit, so I might fix that this upcoming weekend. Engine Temp is at 195F, and goes up to just under 200F when the A/C is on. I am actually planning on cutting some holes in the hood like this : LINK My only real complaint is there isn't much storage in the car. My Mr2 has more storage room. I would almost consider selling the car for the right price or trade, but if I did sell it, I would buy another FD when I get the room for 3 cars.

from my experience moving here only a short time ago, the roads are not very sticky regardless of how clean they look.
