MD New member and his RX7 project

Hi,
My name is Tony, live in MD north of Wash DC. I'm new to this board and to the world of RX-7's.

I've been racing Porsche 944's for a number of years. My son, who's been doing autox's and DE's with me, and I wanted to put together a 24 Hour of LeMons car, because we found out they'll be having a race in 2010 at Summit Point Racetrack, which is basically our home track.

My son stumbled onto a 1979 RX7 that's been parked in an underground parking garage for many years following an accident. We got the car for free, but it has a fair amount of body damage, though its mostly cosmetic. We've been able to get the car started and it seems to run fine.

As '79 and '80 RX7's aren't allowed in SpecRX7 racing, a LeMons racer seems like a good fit. Our objective is to keep the cost way down; LeMons has a limit of $500 invested, safety items excluded (like cage, harness, etc.). Plus you can offset your investment if you sell any parts.

We're looking to purchase a couple of main items. Any leads?

Also, we're planning to gut the interior, much of which is in pretty decent shape. The car has about 65K original miles. Any interest in 1979 interior parts, like seats, door panels, etc?

        Thanks!

Post in the classifieds here. This forum isn't browsed by the general readership. Take good pictures. I'm sure you'll be able to turn some things over.

That sounds like a great experience. Make sure to have someone follow you around and take pics and post the story after it's all done. I'd love to do LeMons but it's never fit for me.

Thanks Dave! Unfortunately, I'm new to this Board, and I have to meet the minimum posting requirements before I can post anywhere else. I do plan to followup in the Classifieds.

Ah, yes with 2 posts you're slightly on hold.

I suggest searching out this site for good info relevant to what you're doing and feel free to post follow-up questions in some of the older threads. Making new threads is highly overrated.
